A lot's been going on and I haven't been keeping up -- shocker.
Last Sunday I ran my third half-marathon. It was lovely running weather...humid and rainy, with bursts of 25 mph winds. Awesome. We made it though. My mom ran too, it was her first half and I couldn't be more proud of how in shape my beautiful mama is.
Crossing the finish line, 2:17:19. Mom was only a few minutes behind.
Mom & I with our medals.
The best part about burning 1300 calories in one morning? Getting to eat whaaaatever you want for the rest of the day! Lucky for us, the race fell on my Dad's birthday so after we got cleaned up we went out for an amazing lunch at Churrasco's.
Scarlett was in heaven with the mini dessert bar -- bite-size yummies just for her!
Even though this was my third half, I was definitely less prepared than I had been for the previous two. Getting sick a few weeks before put running on hold and I wasn't able to train as hard as I would have liked. But, I was happy with my time considering the crazy weather -- running against constant wind the last 2 miles slowed everyone down big time. This will be my last half for a while. Training for long races is time consuming and exhausting -- something that doesn't go well while trying to keep up with a busy 3 year old! My next race will be the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run 10K at the end of February. Less pressure, more fun. If you're in the Houston area and want to run with, let me know!
Moving on...
It seems like forever ago that these sweet girls and I met up for burritos and cupcakes, but I just wanted to document that it happened. {stealing pics from Mer}
My BFFE!
I am so thankful for these mamas and the new friendships we have developed over the past few months. We have created a constant virtual line of communication via twitter -- and yes, I realize that might sound silly to some people -- but when you're a stay at home/work from home mom, having a little "group" like this kind of takes the edge off the loneliness that can come with raising small children all day long and needing ADULT conversation! The fact that we all live close and can get together every couple weeks is a double blessing.
And if you do follow us on twitter, than you know all about THE Caramel Cake that Stefanie ordered last week. Oh my sweet goodness, it was to die for. I don't know how I lived 25 years of Southern existence without the knowledge of this cake!
Hello lova.
Scarlett was at school while all this cake business went down, but I was sure to give her a bite or two when she got home. She thought very highly of the cake as well ;)
Thank you again, Stef, for being so sweet and having us over for this scrumptiousness! You are precious.
And last but not least, Dev and I got to babysit our favorite kiddos on Friday night. Scarlett was beside herself when I told her Carson and Slade were coming over to hang out all night!
Devin helped C&S make S'mores in the fireplace, we played with every toy in the house, and they finally crashed around 11 watching Toy Story 3 on the couch. It was a fun night and having 3 kids running around made it go by super fast. I could totally handle it everyday ;) ha.
I guess that sums up the past couple weeks. I'll try not to get that behind again. Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
xoxo

Congrats on another rewarding accomplishment!
