hey kid.

this afternoon scarlett looked out the car window, sighed, and told me that the sky was such a beautiful blue today. she held hands with her cousin and walked around downtown fredericksburg; sang, giggled, and kept telling me how she couldn't wait to go home to finish watching toy story 2.  she told me i was her favorite mommy at least once every hour.  she told everyone how she was going to start her ballerina lessons on thursday and she was going to wear a big pink tutu.  i told her that she was the funniest kid i've ever known.  i told her not to jump off the couch about 10 times.  i told her to put on her shoes before she went outside.  because now she can do stuff like that by herself.  i told her to give me a little kiss and she licked my cheek and thought it was the most clever thing she had ever done. i told her i would be ok if she didn't grow up even one more minute.  i don't have a baby anymore, i have a little kid.  she's about to take dance class and go to preschool and i'm about to freak out.  i know it only gets more fun the older they get, and don't misunderstand me, i LOVE the sweet angel child that scarlett is turning into. its just days like today, when she runs off with her cousin to play for hours and basically forgets i'm alive, that i start to miss my baby girl.

little one had her first run-in of the summer with the ice cream truck last night.  nothing better than a push pop on a ridiculously hot texas night.
